NILA has been instrumental in fighting illegal deportations to third-party countries.
The National Immigration Litigation Alliance has two goals:
(1) to enforce and expand immigrant rights through impact, transparency, and damages litigation; and (2) to support and develop immigration litigators. Our holistic approach to the latter goal is to co-counsel with immigration attorneys, provide timely, individualized strategic assistance, review pleadings, produce well-researched legal templates and practice advisories, and host quality educational webinars. Investing in the growth of immigration attorneys to gain or improve their litigation skills cannot be understated. Successful training, support, and mentoring of an attorney helps every future noncitizen represented by that attorney.
I learned about NILA from the court case over illegal third-country removals. Their work has the potential to help thousands of people avoid cruel and dangerous deportations that put them in physical danger.
