Both Amendment 4 and Amendment 5 failed significantly in Missouri's Aug. 4 election, receiving less than 20% support across the state.

“The people of Missouri sent a powerful, clear, unequivocal message to Jefferson City, and that is ‘the people are your boss,’” said Scott Charton, who led campaign efforts against both measures for the Missouri Association of Realtors. “And the people are paying close attention.”

Not a single county in Missouri approved either measure, according to county-by-county results tracked by the Associated Press. Both rural and urban areas roundly rejected the measures by similar margins:
