Seeing so many people protesting in rallies big and small all across the country has prompted lots of us to go to a protest for the first time in our lives.
But sometimes it's hard to find out when and where a protest will happen, especially if you're not in a large city.
A recent thread on MetaFilter about the John Lewis Good Trouble protests had some helpful suggestions for finding upcoming protests:
- the About page for the r/50501 subreddit links to several websites that can help you find upcoming protests
- Indivisible uses Mobilize to list its events
- MoveOn also uses Mobilize to list its events
- local Indivisible groups may know of upcoming protests
- local chapters of Democratic Socialists of America chapter may know of upcoming protests
- local public service unions may know of upcoming protests
- partner orgs from No Kings, Good Trouble Lives On, and Hands Off protests may have a presence near you
- Also: if you go to a protest and find someone who seems like they're one of the people organizing it, you can say: "How do I find out about the next event?" Maybe there's a Signal or WhatsApp announcement group you can join. Maybe there's a coffeeshop they always leave flyers in. Or maybe you'll make a friend and they'll just message you when the next one's planned
